He has produced the annual Mundane Source Book, Book of Maps and Peter Pan in Midlife. Implicit in the fundamental concepts underlying astrology is the world view from which they were developed--one that was macrocosmic, holistic and cyclic in nature, unlike today's cause-and-effect consensus cosmology. From this integrated world view, astrology's language was perfected to express concisely archetypal realities and relationships, and this language remains an invaluable tool for self-discovery.

JOHN WEIR PERRY:
Rite of Kings I: The Self in Psychosis and Spiritual Evolutions, Evening Lecture

In his forward to Dr. Perry's The Self in Psychotic Process, C.G. Jung wrote that "the psyche like the body, is an extremely historical structure." These deep structures are revealed in the emotional images that surface in archetypal patterns in what John W. Perry has called "the reconstitutive process of the Self." In this way, the ancient rituals and sacred symbols of archaic peoples are ciphers to psychopathology that psychiatrist, and psychotherapist, may learn to understand the architecture of acute psychosis and the innate movement toward rebirth.

Spiritual Dimensions of the Healing Process

Author of over 500 articles, several books on parapsychology, mythology, dreams shamanism and healing, director of Dream Laboratory for over 10 years, taught at Somoma State, CIIS and Saybrook Institute. Dr. Krippner’s premise is the spiritual dimensions of healing are ignored by most Western practitioners but are an important part of native, indigenous medicine and counseling. "Spirituality" can be defined as that pattern of behaviors and experiences that come about through awareness of a transcendent dimension of existence. Spiritual behavior and experiences are characterized by certain identifiable values in regard to oneself, others, nature, and whatever one considers to be of ultimate significance. Considerable psychological data now exist which demonstrate the importance of spirituality in healing and can be found in such diverse fields as psychotherapy, longevity, quality of life, recovery from serious illness, and psychoneuroimmunology.

Spiritual Politics: Changing the World From the Inside Out

Recorded in audio and video, the video is unedited at this time. An excellent talk by a very personable couple. They write in the program, " Spirit is moving deeply and powerfully through world events today in ways that are seldom heard on the evening news. The hidden causes of world events will be explored by learning to read what the Native Americans call "the Book of Life". Current events such as natural disasters, urban violence, international conflicts and skyrocketing debt will be discussed as the symbolic out-working of inner forces and collective karma and the lessons being offered to us. A new political/economic paradigm will be discussed, which is based on the Ageless Wisdom of East and West, the "golden thread" that connects the hidden teachings of the world's major spiritual traditions. There will be a special focus on how the world can be changed from the inside out--by high-lighting an emerging spiritual politics that evokes the Soul in each citizen, supports their evolutionary step, and upholds the greatest good for the greatest number. Included is a discussion of the non-adversarial whole-systems approaches to social issues.

How can a deepened understanding, cultivated by teachings and Zen meditation practice, enable us to live within the Western world in which we find ourselves, with its conventional definitions and experiences? This workshop presents through lectures, group discussions and Zen practice an approach to the establishment of self, being, and the world in conventional and absolute ‘realities’.

CHARLES TART:
Toward Waking Up:Cultivating Mindfulness

Western psychology and Eastern philosophy have long seen ordinary consciousness as a kind of waking sleep, an absorption in our personal and cultural illusions. Charles Tart presents a lecture on how we can awaken from our cultural trance and rediscover our essential selves. Tart addresses the main ideas of G.J. Gurdjieff (one of the first teachers to adapt Eastern spiritual methods to Western culture), adding to them and integrating them with modern, growth psychology. In addition, Tart teaches self-observation and self-remembering as primary meditations for increasing mindfulness, self-understanding and living more effectively in the here-and-now.

DEENA METZGER:
Writing For your Life

"Each person's life is a story. Perceiving our life as story and learning to tell it are parts of the creative process. Writing allows us to abandon ourselves to the realm of the imagination, trusting that within it, we act in the best interest of the Self. The simple willingness to explore the story asserts the reality of the individual. The creative process of discovering and telling our story--a story that posesses us unmercifully and yet, paradoxically, which we create and recreate--becomes part of the way we construct our lives." Deena Metzger, novelist, poet, playwright, healer, and teacher, counsels people with life-threatening diseases. She also works with people suffering spiritual, creative and emotional crises. Diane Di Prima, Ellen Bass, Joanna Macy, Linda Leonard and Brugh Joy highly recommend this book. The inspiring talk regarding this material was recorded 5/14/93 at the California Institute of Integral Studies.

In this slide-illustrated discussion, Kazuaki Tanahashi will engage the audience in these issues, using his "koans" for a planetary survival."
